Twitter CEO Elon Musk has begun reinstating tens of thousands of previously banned Twitter accounts, an event some company insiders call “the Big Bang.”
Last week, Musk announced a blanket amnesty for Twitter users suspended from the platform in previous years.
The decision came folowing the final results of a poll Musk tweeted Wednesday.
Aside from accounts that broke the law or engaged in excessive spam, Twitter has now begun reinstating banned accounts en masse.
Twitter employees reportedly learned of the mass reinstating of banned accounts through Musk’s tweets.
According to Platformer, Twitter has “begun the process of reinstating roughly 62,000 accounts with more than 10,000 followers, including one account that has over 5 million followers, and 75 accounts with over 1 million followers.”
The unbanning of accounts came not long after former President Donald Trump’s account was reinstated, although the 45th President insisted he won’t return to the platform.
But Twitter may risk being de-platformed by the App store ‘gatekeepers’ Apple, Google Play, and Amazon.

As The Daily Fetched reported last week, speculation came following Apple executive Phil Schiller deactivating his Twitter account days after Donald Trump’s account was restored on the platform.
Meanwhile, Apple’s official Twitter account removed all its tweets.
“Musk is playing a dangerous game that could spell game over for the platform he just bought,” Fast Company reported.
“Musk’s platforming of hateful content could get Twitter itself de-platformed,” writes Clint Rainey, warning the company was on a “collision course” with app store “gatekeepers.”
Rainey expressed anger after Musk culled the number of “moderators employed to track harmful content and enforce Twitter’s rules against it.”
Musk has since hinted at a slew of new offerings from “Twitter 2.0,” including enhanced video content, long-form tweets, encrypted direct messages, and entertaining advertisements.
