Utah Republican Sen. Mitt Romney came out against House Republicans’ effort to impeach President Joe Biden, claiming he does not “see any evidence” to justify an impeachment.
Romney told NBC’s “Meet the Press” that House Republicans “ought to have some evidence” that Biden had engaged in any wrongdoing.
Host Kristen Welker asked:
“As you know, House Republicans have signaled that they may vote as early as this week on an impeachment inquiry into President Biden, despite the fact that they haven’t shown, yet, a direct Link between Hunter Biden’s business dealings and President Biden.”
“Have you seen any evidence that President Biden has committed high crimes and misdemeanors?”
Romney responded:
“No. I — I — I don’t see any evidence of that at all.”
“I think, before you begin an impeachment inquiry, you ought to have some evidence, some inclination that there’s been wrongdoing.”
“And so far, there’s nothing of that nature that’s been provided,” Romney added.
“So, are you opposed to the impeachment inquiry?” Welker asked Romney.
Romney responded:
“Well, if I were in the House, I’d vote against it unless they were able to bring forward evidence that suggested there were a high crime or misdemeanor that had been committed.”
“But so far, that hasn’t been the case. Look — look, fortunately for most people, we’re not responsible for the misdeeds of our kids and grandkids and great-grandkids,” Romney said.
He added:
“Nothing in my family I’m embarrassed about, but President Trump’s — excuse me, President Biden’s son, Hunter, has obviously been a very unsavory person and has had some extremely damaging personal foibles, including a drug habit and so forth.”
“That’s not President Biden. And we’re not going to impeach someone because of the sins of their kids.”

Romney’s remarks came after news the GOP-led House will reportedly vote on Thursday to decide whether to launch an official impeachment inquiry into Biden.
According to Reuters, “House Republicans have so far failed to produce evidence tying Biden’s actions as vice president to his son’s businesses.”
However, this is false.
Earlier this year, Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pa.)slammed a reporter who asked what evidence House Republicans had to begin the inquiry against Biden.
“What actual evidence do you have as opposed to allegations to show to the American public that would merit an actual impeachment inquiry of Joe Biden and prove that today isn’t just about some of you?” a reporter asked off-camera.
“Oh, I don’t know,” said Perry.
“This isn’t about political revenge. We have the bank accounts we can see, ma’am. You can see that the homes that the Bidens own can’t be afforded on a congressional or Senate salary.”
“You also understand that it’s not normal for family members to receive millions of dollars from overseas interests,” Perry responded, growing increasingly animated and agitated.
“Those things aren’t normal. That’s not normal. Have 20 shell country companies; these things are not normal,’ he said.
“And it alludes to not only just widespread corruption, but money laundering, if not influence peddling itself,” he continued.
