Former First Lady Michelle Obama is now the preferred choice among Democrats to replace ageing 81-year-old Joe Biden if he drops out of the 2024 presidential race, according to a new survey.
Even though Michelle Obama hasn’t announced she is even running (yet), she came out on top of other high-profile possible replacements, including Gavin Newsom, Kamala Harris, and Hillary Clinton.
However, despite Michelle Obama expressing she does not intend to run, she has failed to address the mounting speculation about her candidacy if Biden were to step down.
Obama has already gained support from 20% of Democrats, who now view her as the preferable alternative to Biden.
Democrats “like the idea of replacing” Biden and approve of finding another candidate to replace the president before the election in November,” according to the Washington Examiner.
Rasmussen Reports says that almost half of likely U.S. voters believe it’s plausible for Democrats to replace Biden, with a large portion of Republican respondents also sharing this view.
Meanwhile, a Monmouth University poll revealed that 48 percent of respondents believed it would be likely that Democrats would release Biden before the election.
The news comes following the fallout from Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report, which criticized Biden’s handling of classified information but excused him for being an elderly individual with memory issues.
However, Biden has not shown any signs of withdrawing from the race.
The filing deadline for Democratic primaries has already passed in 44 states, which makes it impossible for any new candidate to enter.
As reported last month, more bets are being placed on Michelle Obama winning the presidency than Joe Biden.
The Daily Fetched reported:
Michelle Obama has been hitting the headlines recently, voicing concerns about the likelihood of Donald Trump becoming president again.
“I am terrified about what could possibly happen,” Obama said earlier this month.
