Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York took issue with the content of two Super Bowl commercials funded by the Christian group He Gets Us, which she believes make fascism appear “benign.”
In a tweet, AOC wrote, “Something tells me Jesus would not spend millions of dollars on Super Bowl ads to make fascism look benign.”
Lavern Spicer responded to AOC’s tweet, writing: “Which ad is triggering you so I know to buy they product?”
The advertisements, which cost the group $20 million, depict Jesus as a compassionate and empathetic figure who cares for immigrants and the poor, while also being frustrated with the political divisions
The ads also aim to spread the message of Jesus to communities such as the LGBTQ+ community who may have felt excluded from Christianity.
The campaign, launched in March 2022, plans to spend $2 billion over the next few years.
It is partially funded by the family behind Hobby Lobby and other anonymous Christian donors.
The commercials direct viewers to a website that features Bible readings, opportunities to chat with others about religion, and information about Jesus.
The two Christian Super Bowl advertisements were aired on Sunday during the Super Bowl game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles.
One of the ads features black-and-white images of migrants fleeing persecution, only to reveal that the story is actually about Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.
The other ad showcases black-and-white images of disputes over racial justice, pandemic lockdowns, and politics, with the message “Jesus loved the people we hate.”

The “campaign” is FAKE CHRISTIANITY watered down to the point where it means NOTHING. It also has a healthy helping of leftist stupidity attached to it, so she actually should like it. I literally was given a YouTube 24 hour suspension and had the following comment struck down so BIG TECH is actually on board with the campaign so that should tell you it’s false Christianity!
There is an ad where they INCORRECTLY state that “JESUS WAS A REFUGEE” which is beyond stupid. My post was to PROVE that the ad backers know NOTHING about Christ OR Christianity I posted the following which led to the strike.

I am a Christian & I too had the same suspicion. I downloaded their plan on the Bible app. I did not get anything fake from it. 7 short lessons followed by scripture. I think they are trying a context of Christ as ‘The word became flesh and dwelt among us’. He died for all of humanity and is available for all of us, no matter who we are or what we’ve done. It was not an approval of sin. The refugee comparison was his escape to Egypt. He wants relationship with refugees, ALL of us, not to affirm who we think we are but to ‘transform us into a new person’.
Jesus was in his own country, and was killed by illegal immigrants from Italy.
Exactly…..but this is the watered down Christianity where the current WOKE sins are embraced and the Bible is merely a suggestion. I want to say it’s better than nothing but it’s the same as giving someone a map though a minefield and leaving out the actual directions.
