Democratic Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot has pleaded with Republican Texas Gov Greg Abbott to stop busing migrants from the southern border to her city.
In a letter to Abbott, Lightfoot said Chicago is out of space for migrants, accusing Texas of a lack of coordination with the city.
Title 42, the Trump-era public health expulsion order, is set to end May 11, and the Biden administration anticipates a massive surge in migrants.
“Chicago is a Welcoming City, and we continue to collaborate with County, State, and community partners to rise to this challenge,” Lightfoot wrote on Twitter regarding the letter.
“The lack of confederation or coordination in an attempt to cause chaos and score political points has resulted in a critical tipping point,” Lightfoot wrote on Twitter regarding the letter,” she added.
Lori Lightfoot also noted that Abbott had previously paused the original program to bus migrants to the Windy City, knowing he would resume the program on May 1.
“Mayor Lightfoot loves to tout the responsibility of her city to welcome all regardless of legal status, and I look forward to seeing this responsibility in action as these migrants receive resources from a sanctuary city with the capacity to serve them,” Abbott said in a statement when he first began busing migrants to Chicago.
Lightfoot was critical of the effort, calling it “unpatriotic and un-American,” as Democratic Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker declared a state of emergency over the surge in migrant arrivals.
Since Aboot began his effort, Chicago has received more than 8,000 migrants, according to Lightfoot’s letter.
Between August and March, border Patrol recorded more than 1.4 million migrant encounters at the U.S.-Mexico border, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) statistics revealed.
Lightfoot lost her bid for a second term in office earlier this year.
Lightfoot became the first Chicago mayor to lose a bid for reelection in 40 years.
After conceding defeat, she said, “Obviously, we didn’t win the election today, but I stand here with my head held high.”
Lightfoot’s first term in office saw a massive spike in crime as she focused on ‘woke’ issues’ rather than dealing with issues affecting the people of Chicago.

Chicago and every other blue city in the country had better start allocating the necessary resources to absorb the 1+ million illegal aliens who are reportedly waiting just across the border for Title 42 to end on May 11th.
Hey Texas is just “sharing” the costs and criminals with Blue states and cities. Why should Texas have to absorb them all?

As a Texan, I encourage Gov. Abbott to double the number of bus loads of illegal immigrants sent to Chicago, NY and the other Democrat hellholes. The Houston grade school that my daughter will go to is populated with 80% Hispanics who speak Spanish as their primary language and are fed most of their meals at school. It has to stop. The solution to pollution is dilution. The same principal applies to illegal immigration.
What this cries out for is at least a doubling of the buses headed to Chicago from the border
