The liberal city of Denver is buckling under the strain of housing illegal migrants as costs soars to $25 million, according to officials.
This marks the huge financial hit liberal cities suffer amid the flood of migrants pouring into the US.
The city told Fox News that its expenses for migrant sheltering are now almost $24.8 million.
Denver has spent more than $23 million dealing with the migrant crisis as officials scrambled to implement a plan to provide services including costs sheltering migrants in the liberal city.
In April, the city was expected to spend up to $20 million over the subsequent six months, costing up to $1,000 per migrant per week.
In 2022, the city declared a state of emergency after numbers began to surge.
Earlier this year, Denver put certain limits on migrant shelters, including a 30-day limit for how long migrants can stay and bars on returns and engaging in “illegal activity.”
Denver is one of many liberal cities now facing the harsh reality of how “open borders” affect the city.
In April, New York City Mayor Eric Adams accused Joe Biden of destroying New York City with his migrant crisis.
The mayor of the self-described “sanctuary” city was met with angry residents as the city struggled to cope with the influx of migrants.
“We are about to experience a financial… tsunami that I don’t think the city has ever experienced,” Adams said recently.
“Every service in this city is going to be impacted, from child service to our seniors to housing. Everything will be impacted.”
Texas Governor Greg Abbott sent migrants to cities like Denver and New York City, which was just a fraction of the total number of migrants they have seen, Fox News noted.
Adams also demanded that Biden declare a national emergency at the border due to the migrant influx.
“So we continue to do an average of twenty-five hundred a week, five thousand every two weeks, ten thousand a month,” Adams said at the time.
“You don’t have to be a mathematician to understand what this is doing to our city,” he said.
Meanwhile, Chicago announced a $538 million deficit driven by the “cost to care for new migrants arriving to the city.”
At least $200 million stems from costs from special project costs — including migrant care., according to NBC New Chicago.
New York and Chicago are “sanctuary” cities, which means they do not cooperate with immigration enforcement.
While Denver said it was not a sanctuary city, it admitted it does limit cooperation with immigration officials.
Last month, Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey declared a state of emergency in the liberal state. At the same time, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass expressed fears the “planes could start coming” to ship migrants in.
While Biden claims he is doing everything to tackle the border crisis, the evidence is clear he is not.
As The Daily Fetched reported last week, a new video showed thousands of migrants on open train cars in Mexico heading towards the US southern border.
The video, posted by Fox News reporter Griff Jenkins and independent journalist Auden Cabello, shows migrants from all around the world headed toward the US border from Mexico on a packed train.

“Officials with the administration have cited the plan as a way to curb the flow of illegal immigrants at the southern border. The plan would also include the implementation of ankle bracelets to track their location, for migrants who are actually caught. But the administration sued Texas to force it to remove a barrier the state floated in the Rio Grande in an effort to curb the historic level of illegal migration. The Biden administration also sued Arizona for building a barrier out of shipping containers on its border with Mexico.”
