The resettlement of thousands of border crossers and illegal aliens has pushed New York City to its brink.
Staten Island residents are outraged by NYC Mayor Eric Adams’ move to house migrants at the former St. John Villa Academy, which is right opposite a tight-knit neighborhood.
A judge had temporarily blocked Adams from housing migrants at the former school, but another judge overturned the decision when the city appealed.
“This is unfair,” one Staten Island resident said to CBS News.
“My tax dollars shouldn’t be going to this.”
Another resident urged neighborhood activists not to give up the fight.
Earlier this month, New York City announced it plans to use a public park’s soccer fields on Randall’s Island to house up to 2,000 illegal immigrants.
The news comes after the city announced it is already considering housing illegal immigrants in Central Park.
Brooklyn residents vented anger after the city just opened a shelter in a popular neighborhood park.
Since last year, over 100,000 border crossers and illegal aliens have arrived in New York and remain in the city’s care, costing taxpayers $12 billion.
