White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre blamed House Republicans for the record number of illegal alien entries at the southern border while praising Joe Biden for doing everything possible to stop the flow.
“We need to continue to work together on border security, right? The president, first day in his administration, in a couple of weeks, we’re going to hit three years since the president’s been in the administration,” Jean-Pierre said.
“The first thing that he put forward was a comprehensive immigration law,” she added.
“And that’s because he believed that our system was broken and that it had been broken for decades and wanted to take that seriously.”
“But we need, we need Republicans in Congress to work with us on that.”

“We appreciate the negotiations that are currently happening in the Senate.”
“It’s headed in the right direction. We want to come up with a bipartisan agreement,” she continued.
“But we saw what the House passed, ending of last year. They wanted to take away law enforcement folks who are at the border trying to protect our border.”
“And so that’s not what we want to see.”
Jean-Pierre then suggested that the impeachment inquiry into the president’s alleged involvement with Hunter’s business dealings is contributing to the crisis.
“There’s a lot of ways that we can work with Congress instead of them going after the president’s family,” she said.
“They should really, truly, truly focus on the American family,” she added.
The White House spokeswoman also blasted Texas Governor Greg Abbott for bussing llegal aliens from Texas to “sanctuary cities.”
“It is shameful that a Republican governor, Governor Abbott in Texas, is using migrants as a political stunt. That’s what he’s been doing.” Jean-Pierre said.
“And the busing of migrants, the putting them on flights, it is shameful that that is occurring. And instead of – if the governor really truly wants to deal with this issue, he should talk to the senators in his state and actually ask them to work with us.”
U.S. Customs and Border Patrol recorded more than 3.2 million illegal alien encounters on the southern border in 2023 alone.
The figures do not include “gotaways” and those who are avoiding detection.
