President Joe Biden’s climate czar, John Kerry, was confronted by a reporter in Switzerland about his carbon footprint.
Kerry, who appeared to be taken off-guard, gave a fiery response to the reporter’s question.
“What’s the carbon footprint of these events every single year that you come here? Do you think it’s worth it — peasants paying for your crimes?” Avi Yemini, an Australian reporter with independent outlet Rebel News, asked Kerry.
“That’s a stupid question,” Kerry snapped.
“Nobody ever suggested that. Don’t make up stupid questions,” he said when asked a follow-up question on his carbon footprint.

Kerry was in Davos to attend the annual World Economic Forum (WEF) summit, which focuses on climate change and achieving net-zero ambitions.
Biden’s climate envoy said he had done a “huge amount” to combat climate change despite traveling in private jets to attend such events.
The reporter asked Kerry a simple question about his carbon footprint, but it was blocked by security personnel.
Security personnel escorting Kerry between WEF events ultimately blocked Yemini from asking further questions.
In a social media post, Yemini said that Kerry “found it difficult to justify his carbon footprint in attending the World Economic Forum each year in Davos.”
The confrontation came just days after news broke that Kerry was stepping down from his position as special presidential envoy for climate (SPEC)
Kerry confirmed the reports on Tuesday but added he was merely shifting his efforts and not retiring completely.
Biden appointed Kerry to the role in 2021, a position that had not previously existed and didn’t require Senate approval.
Since then, Kerry has traveled across the globe, attending climate summits and diplomatic engagements to push for a global transition from fossil fuels to green energy alternatives.
He also regularly attends WEF conferences.
In December last year, Kerry said coal plants should not be permitted “anywhere in the world” during a speech at the COP28 climate conference in Dubai.
He also said he is becoming “more and more” militant because he claims people are avoiding responsibility and not doing what they are told.
“We don’t need that necessarily to tell us we ought to be transitioning out of coal,” Kerry said.
“There shouldn’t be any more coal power plants permitted anywhere in the world.”
“That’s how you can do something for health. And the reality is that we’re not doing it,” he added.
