ABC’s “The View” co-hosts have only just begun to realize the Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg‘s trial against former President Donald Trump is helping boost his presidential campaign.
The trial is currently dominating headlines, giving Trump free press coverage while exposing the corrupt judicial system to voters.
On Monday, former lawyer Michael Cohen testified in the case alleging hush money payments made to actress Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election.
Meanwhile, the co-hosts of “The View” debated the trial’s unintended media repercussions.
Sara Haines said, “I would say when you say the Biden campaign has to get more active, I actually blame the media slightly.”
“We talked last week a lot about how I don’t think people are able to watch this Trump trial 24-7. Now we’re talking about we’re in a campaign.”
“The irony is the people covering that news think they’re getting one up on Donald Trump while they’re handing him a lot of votes because of the coverage. It’s ridiculous,” she complained.
Ana Navarro chimed in:
“I actually think this trial is somewhat helping Donald Trump because it’s keeping him off the trail and because we are not focusing on the stupid stuff he says on a daily basis. And that is helping him.”
Watch
The Democrats now faced two choices: address the issues facing voters or continue to propel Trump to the White House by continually attacking him.
According to recent polls, voters have voiced dissatisfaction with the Biden administration as everyday expenses from gas to groceries continue to soar.
Meanwhile, Trump remains in the spotlight during his criminal trial and continues to stoke sympathy from supporters who “see him as a martyr” and the subject of a political witch hunt.
CNN’s Fareed Zakaria admitted:
“Trump could always embroil himself in some kind of scandal, but trend-lines are not working in Biden’s favor,” he added.
“I have to admit, none of this is playing out as I thought it would.”
“As someone worried about the prospects of a second Trump term, I think it’s best to be honest about reality,” Zakaria told viewers, adding that polls have “tended to underestimate” the well of support Trump draws among registered and likely voters. “I doubt that there are many shy Biden voters in the country.”
