American actor and star of General Hospital, Tyler Christopher, has died at the age of 50 following a cardiac event.
Christopher’s “General Hospital” co-star Maurice Benard confirmed he passed away in his San Diego home following a cardiac event.
“It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Tyler Christopher,” Benard wrote on Instagram Tuesday.
“Tyler passed away this morning following a cardiac event in his San Diego apartment.”
“Tyler was a truly talented individual that lit up the screen in every scene he performed and relished bringing joy to his loyal fans through his acting.”
“Tyler was a sweet soul and wonderful friend to all of those who knew him.”
“Tyler was an advocate for better mental health and substance use treatment who openly spoke about his struggles with bipolar depression and alcohol.”
“We are beyond devastated by the loss of our dear friend and pray for his children and his father.”
During Christopher’s career, he earned five Daytime Emmy nominations and one win in a career spanning over two decades.

The actor portrayed Nikolas Cassadine on “General Hospital” from 1996 to 2016.
He also portrayed Stefan DiMera on “Days of Our Lives” from 2018 to 2019.
Christopher also faced personal challenges throughout his life, including struggles with bipolar depression and alcohol.
Tyler was also an advocate for better mental health and substance use treatment.
The actor openly spoke about his struggles with mental health issues, encouraging others to seek help.
In 2019, Christopher was arrested and charged with public intoxication in Indiana.
As The New York Post noted, Christopher was married to Eva Longoria from 2002 to 2004.
He married auto racing reporter Brienne Pedigo in 2008 until their divorce was finalized in 2021.
He is survived by his two kids with Pedigo: a son, Greyson James, born in 2009, and a girl, Boheme, born in 2015.
