Special Counsel John Durham smacked down Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) after the Democrat claimed during the House Judiciary Committee hearing that the latter had “ruined his reputation” by refusing to turn his investigation into a probe into now debunked Trump-Russia “collusion.”
During Durham’s testimony at the House Judiciary Committee, he concluded the Department of Justice had no evidence to justify launching their collusion investigation, which he said should never have happened in the first place.
However, Democrats pushed back despite the conclusive findings of two special counsel investigations, claiming there “was evidence” to support the Russia collusion conspiracy theory.
Cohen claimed Durham should have included information from a grand jury report by then-Attorney General William Barr – NOTE: The statute prevents Barr from revealing the grand jury proceedings.
“You had a good reputation,” Cohen said in questioning Durham.
“That’s why the two Democrats supported you. But the longer you hold on to Mr. Barr and this report that Mr. Barr gave you as special counsel, your reputation will be damaged, as everybody’s reputation who gets involved with Mr. Trump is damaged.”
“He’s damaged goods. There’s no good dealing with him because you will end up on the bottom of a pyre,” Cohen added.

As Durham attempted to respond, Cohen’s time had expired.
Then, committee chair Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) allowed Durham to respond.
Durham declared:
“My concern about my reputation is with the people who I respect: my family and my Lord, and I am perfectly comfortable with my reputation with them, Sir.”
Earlier in the hearing, Durham also revealed how a number of FBI agents “apologized” to him for how the Trump-Russia “hoax” investigation “was undertaken” at the bureau.
Durham told Congress that active and retired agents apologized to him for how the bureau’s politicized investigation, which ultimately bore no fruits.
“I have had any number of FBI agents who I’ve worked with over the years — some of them are retired, some of them are still in place — who’ve come to me and apologized for the manner in which that investigation was undertaken,” Durham said.
