Disgraced former FBI Director James Comey claimed that people who think the FBI is a “leftist cabal out to get the Republicans” are “crazy.”
On CNN’s “CNN This Morning,” Co-host Poppy Harlow said:
“Historically, previously until the last few years, it has been those on the left who have been critical of the FBI. You were a Republican for most of your life until you say the party left you. Why do you think so many Republicans have turned on the FBI?”
“I think it’s largely because Donald Trump and those around him have seen the FBI as a threat, and so they have taken a blowtorch to try to tear down that threat.”
“It’s really unfortunate. The notion that the FBI is some sort of leftist cabal out to get the Republicans is so crazy,” Comey said.
“It shows you how crazy our times are.”
“The FBI will be fine in the long run. This fever around Donald Trump and the MAGA world will eventually break, but it’s become somehow a nutty article of faith that the FBI is out to get Republicans,” Comey added.
“If you ask people 20 years ago whether that would someday be the accusation, they’d say that’s nuts. It’s nuts, but it will pass.”
On Tuesday, Comey claimed Donald Trump posed a “near-existential threat” to the country.
As The Daily Fetched reported:
Despite all the above being confirmed in the Durham report, Comey claimed there is “nothing new” in and continues to deny the FBI had any political motive in its Trump investigations.
Comey explained why he believes Trump poses a “near-existential threat” to the rule of law in America.
“There’s nothing new in this new document,” Comey said.
“In complex investigations, there’s always going to be mistakes. It doesn’t mean the FBI isn’t competent, honest, and independent.”
“After the search of Mar-a-Lago, there were days of lies about the FBI acting as some sort of thug army, and that hurts because the FBI needs to knock on doors and get people’s help,” he added.
“I think he poses a near existential threat to the rule of law,” Comey claimed.
‘He will do everything he can in a new term to try to tear down the institutions that he sees as threats and dismantle them and the people who occupy them.”
