Bill Gates admitted it is impractical to insist on elites giving up their private jets to fix climate change.
The billionaire also said he believes curbing private air travel is going too far, and it would be too difficult to stop human desires.
“Anyone who says that we will tell people to stop eating meat or stop wanting to have a nice house, and we’ll just basically change human desires, I think that’s too difficult,” Gates told Akshat Rathi on the Zero podcast by Bloomberg.
“I mean, you can make a case for it. But I don’t think it’s realistic for that to play an absolutely central role,” Gates said.
The Microsoft founder added that “without innovation, you will never solve climate change,” noting that even if the world’s wealthiest people flying private jets were told to live a more sustainable lifestyle, it would have little effect.

“Those [remaining] two-thirds of emissions are pretty basic in terms of the calories and shelter and transport and goods being used,” Gates explained.
“So the excesses of the rich countries … It may feel Calvinistically appropriate, but I’m looking at what the world has to do to get to zero, not using climate as a moral crusade,” Gates added.
Hypocrisy
Earlier this year, Elon Musk called out Gates’ hypocrisy for shorting his climate-friendly Tesla company.
“Sorry, but I cannot take your philanthropy on climate change seriously when you have a massive short position against Tesla, the company doing the most to solve climate change,” Musk confirmed he said via text message on Twitter.
Gates hit back, arguing that he gives “a lot more money to climate change than Elon Musk or anyone else,” claiming shorting Tesla stock doesn’t hinder Musk’s capabilities in any way.
It’s not just Tesla Gates is hurting, but also average working Americans.
In August, The Daily Fetched reported that President Joe Biden’s “Inflation Reduction Act,” which is set to raise taxes on the middle class by as much as $20 billion, was made possible by Gates.
According to a recent Bloomberg article, Gates recalls how earlier this year, he tapped into a relationship with moderate Democratic Senators Joe Manchin, which he had been cultivating since at least 2019.
Gates said he has quietly lobbied Manchin and other senators in the quiet anticipation that large federal spending could be secured for the clean-energy transition.
Arrogant, elitist hypocrite.

It’s been known for decades that CO2 goes up after the temperature goes up. They have the cause and effect exactly backwards, and a recent report highlighted it (again).
