Republican political figure Tiffany Smiley issued a brutal reality check to hosts during an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union” while discussing the current judicial proceedings involving Donald Trump.
Smiley reiterated the growing consensus among Americans that legal actions against Trump are politically motivated attacks.
“Donald Trump just had his largest, biggest small-dollar donations in March,” Smiley began.
“The American people are waking up to the fact, and they’re seeing and feeling, they believe that our judicial system is sort of rigged against Donald Trump,” she said.
However, the discussion took a more intense turn when addressing Judge Juan Merchan, who presides over the hush money case.
Smiley and the hosts noted the judge’s familial connections, specifically that Merchant’s daughter has been actively involved in fundraising activities, which led to Trump being jailed.
“His daughter raises money for Adam Schiff and Kamala Harris using the ploy that we will lock up Donald Trump,” Smiley said.
Loren, Merchan’s daughter, made $150,000 while working as a Special Assistant to Attorney General Letitia James, the DA prosecuting Trump.
Trump himself also called out the judge’s daughter had tainted the case due to her work with
lobbying on behalf of Democratic clients like Congressman and Senate candidate Adam Schiff (D-CA), who obtained a whopping $93 million in donations from appeals about Trump’s various cases.
However, the glaringly obvious “rigged system,” which Trump has been calling out for years, is now there for all to see.

This week, Trump received an unfortunate update on the Alvin Bragg-led “hush money” case when an appeals court judge denied his request to delay his trial.
However, while Trump has the opportunity to appeal to a full panel of five appellate court judges, it’s likely that the court will be able to take action after the trial begins.
Prosecutors from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office on Tuesday also made a case for maintaining the gag order, which bars Trump from making disparaging remarks about witnesses, the prosecution, and the judge’s family.
Trump requested that the court postpone the April 15 trial date while the Supreme Court reviews his claims of presidential immunity. However, Manhattan Judge Juan Merchan rejected his request, referring to it as “untimely.”
“This Court finds that Defendant had myriad opportunities to raise the claim of presidential immunity well before March 7, 2024,” Merchan wrote.
“Defendant could have done so in his omnibus motions on September 29, 2023, which were filed a mere six days before he briefed the same issue in his Federal Insurrection Matter and several months after he brought his motion for removal to federal court on May 4, 2023.”
In his ruling, Merchan noted that pre-trial motions are supposed to be filed within 45 days of arraignment. Trump’s arraign was held last April.
Merchan added that Trump had waited until “a mere 17 days before the scheduled trial date of March 25, 2024, to file the motion, which raises real questions about the sincerity and actual purpose of the motion.”
