Biden Admin Deletes Tweet Instructing Israel to Not Defend Itself against Hamas Terrorists

The Biden administration faced backlash over the weekend after it was forced to delete a tweet on the X platform following the deadly attack on Israel by Hamas terrorists.

The now-deleted tweet said:

“We unequivocally condemn the attack of Hamas terrorists and the loss of life that has occurred.

We urge all sides to refrain from violence and retaliatory attacks. Terror and violence solve nothing.”

As of Monday, more than 800 Israelis have been killed and nearly 2,500 wounded.

Hamas attacked Israel on Saturday by launching thousands of rockets into the heart of the country.

The Hamas terrorists have also been kidnapping Israeli citizens and have executed Israeli civilians.

Republicans slammed the Biden administration over the tweet.

“This is disgraceful and every single person involved in drafting and approving this tweet should be immediately expelled from the U.S. government,” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) wrote in response.

The State Dept. also criticized the tweet:

“The United States condemns the terrorist attack against Israel and unequivocally supports Israel’s right to defend itself, as the President and Secretary have both made clear,” a department spokesman told the Washington Free Beacon.

Former deputy assistant secretary of state under Trump, Len Khodorkovsky, called the tweet “pathetic,” saying it sends a message that “emboldens the terrorists and endangers the civilians.”

Over the weekend, anti-Israel “Squad” House Democrats faced backlash from conservatives following their milquetoast statements following Hamas’s deadly attacks.

Several informal, progressive caucus members released statements condemning the violence and calling for a ceasefire.

On Saturday, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., called for a “ceasefire and de-escalation.”

“Today is devastating for all those seeking a lasting peace and respect for human rights in Israel and Palestine. I condemn Hamas’ attack in the strongest possible terms,” the New York Democrat said in a statement.

“No child and family should ever endure this kind of violence and fear, and this violence will not solve the ongoing oppression and occupation in the region,” Ocasio-Cortez continued.

“An immediate ceasefire and de-escalation is urgently needed to save lives,” she added.

AOC’s statement drew criticism from South Carolina GOP Rep. Nancy Mace.

“Hamas apologist asking for ‘ceasefire’ after one side launches a massive terrorist attack. Nice try,” Mace wrote.

Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., condemned “the horrific acts we are seeing unfold today in Israel against children, women, the elderly, and the unarmed people who are being slaughtered and taken hostage by Hamas.”

The wave of recent Iranian terror attacks left 600 Israelis dead and at least 100 more taken hostage.

Over 600 Israeli civilians and military personnel have lost their lives, while over 100 civilians, including many children and elderly, have been kidnapped and transported to the Gaza Strip.
