Democratic presidential candidate Robert F Kennedy Jr is suing Google and YouTube for allegedly violating his free speech.
RFK Jr filed the lawsuit earlier this week after revealing he was the first person censored by Biden, and warned the suppression will persist as the primary elections approach.
The lawsuit alleges that YouTube can’t legally censor Kennedy’s speech because it is a “digital town square.”
Earlier this month, RFK had one of his videos pulled by YouTube just weeks after the video-sharing site censored his interview with Jordan Peterson.
“YouTube just pulled another of my videos, with former NY Post political reporter Al Guart,” reported RFK Jr in a tweet.
YouTube removed podcast host Jordan Peterson’s interview with RFK Jr for violating its “vaccine policies” after claiming that water chemicals are “turning children transgender.”
“People made a big deal about Russia supposedly manipulating internet information to influence a Presidential election. Shouldn’t we be worried when giant tech corporations do the same?” Kennedy asked.
Kennedy’s lawsuit continues:
“This complaint concerns the freedom of speech and the extraordinary steps the United States government has taken under the leadership of Joe Biden to silence people it does not want Americans to hear.”
The suit adds that YouTube has censored Kennedy’s videos due to its “vaccine misinformation” policies multiple times.
“Although it cited its own COVID vaccine misinformation policies when censoring Mr. Kennedy, the policies rely entirely on government officials to decide what information gets censored,” the complaint said.
“They say that YouTube does not allow people to say anything ‘that contradicts local health authorities’ (LHA) or the World Health Organization’s (WHO) medical information about COVID-19.'”
This means the government sets the guidelines for YouTube to follow to suppress so-called “medical misinformation,” Kennedy’s lawsuit asserted.
“YouTube relies on the government to decide what information to censor.”
While some social media companies stopped suppressing Kennedy since declaring his candidacy, YouTube continued to censor his content, which is violating RFK’s free speech, the complaint says.
“This censorship campaign prevents Mr. Kennedy’s message from reaching millions of voters. It also makes it harder for groups that are supporting his campaign to amplify his message through public sources.”
“YouTube applies its Community Guidelines independently, transparently, and consistently, regardless of political viewpoint,” a Google representative told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “These claims are meritless, and we look forward to refuting them.”
