White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre slammed Tucker Carlson for his new January 6 footage coverage, saying he does not believe in “truth.”
During an appearance on MSNBC’s “Alex Wagner Tonight,” Jean-Pierre said:
“So, I’ll say this, when you look at the depositions that have been out there recently, it even states from fox news leadership, they do not see Tucker Carlson’s show as news or even truthful. That is coming from the Fox leadership.”
“That’s not coming from me. That’s coming from them. And also would quote, paraphrase here, with the chief of Capital police said. He said when you watch Tucker Carlson as it relates to January 6, it is misleading,” added.
” It is misinformation with the conclusion of what happened on January 6, the attacks that happened,” Jean-Pierre said of footage Tucker Carlson presented.
She added, “As you saw from the president’s statement, 140 officers were injured, nearly 140 officers were injured on that day. It was an attack on democracy. It was an attack on our Constitution, and you cannot whitewash that,” she added.
“Tucker Carlson cannot whitewash that. Anyone who doesn’t see with their own eyes what occurred cannot whitewash that. And so, the president’s going to stand with the police officers. He’s going to stand for truth. And clearly, that is not what Tucker Carlson believes in,” Jean-Pierre continued.
Earlier this week, the White House Press Secretary initially responded to the January 6 footage calling it “the worst attack on our Democracy since the Civil War.”
Jean-Pierre’s comments came on the heels of a series of epic meltdowns from Mitch McConnell and Chuck Schumer, who called for the January 6 footage broadcasts to be shut down.
McConnell said Fox News had made “a mistake” for calling the January 6 a largely peaceful if chaotic protest.
Meanwhile, police chief Tom Manger accused Carlson of ‘cherry-picking’ footage without proper context.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer also blasted Carlson over the footage, calling it “one of the most shameful hours we have ever seen in the entire history of cable television,”
Tucker responded to the Democrats and RINOS, calling it “hysteria.”
“The overstatements, the crazed hyperbole, the red-in-the face anger. It’s not outrage, it’s fear,” Carlson told viewers.
“We’re getting close to what they really care about,” he continued, adding, “Here you have people with shared interests. The open borders people. The people like Mitch McConnell who are living in splendor on Chinese money.”
Carlson also mocked Schumer for suffering a meltdown and branding the Fox News host as a “threat to Democracy.”
“They’re all on the same side!” Carlson declared.
