Twitter CEO Elon Musk has fired another 200 employees in the latest round of job cuts from the company since he took over in October last year.
Those who lost their jobs included data scientists, engineers, and product managers, including Esther Crawford who led the relaunch of Twitter Blue.
On Sunday, the Twitter CEO tweeted what appeared to be a cryptic nod at the job cuts.
“Hope you have a good Sunday,” he wrote. “First day of the rest of your life.”

First day of the rest of your life.
Twitter user Richard Heart responded to the Tweet, saying, “Except for those where today is their last.”

Over the weekend, Twitter employees lost access to their Slack channel, which signaled another purge was about to begin.
The Twitter staff took to an anonymous platform for employees to detail the cuts.
“People receive an email at 2am on Saturday, and access cut immediately. This will go down as one of the most extreme layoffs in entire corporate history,” read a post on Blind.
Last November, Twitter fired around 3,700 employees in a cost-cutting exercise to get rid of dead weight.
The cuts aimed to tackle the plunge in revenue following Musk’s takeover, also helped with the introduction of Twitter Blue, the paid subscription.
While Twitter has improved considerably since Musk took over, there appear to be a few remaining bad eggs if you consider the recent account suspensions over the last two months, which also affected The Daily Fetched.
Last month, The Daily Fetched was permanently suspended from Twitter and given no reason as to why.
After around five appeals later, roughly about a month of being suspended, our account finally got a response from Twitter saying this:
“We’re writing to let you know that your account is now unlocked. We’re sorry for the inconvenience. A little background: We have systems that find and remove automated spam Twitter accounts, and it looks like yours was flagged as spam by mistake. This can happen if an account exhibits automated behavior in violation of our rules. We apologize for the mixup, and hope to see back on Twitter soon.”
Although the Daily Fetched account has been reinstated, we still have not regained our blue verification badge, which has been almost two weeks since we first reapplied. You can follow us on Twitter here.
