Representative Eric Swalwell accused “MAGA Republicans” of trying to “whitewash January 6” during an appearance on MSNBC’s “Deadline” Wednesday.
“MAGA Republicans absolutely have to whitewash January 6 because they don’t want the alternative, which is to accept it, condemn what happened and move on, right, Nicolle?” Swalwell said.
“In November 2022, the voters across the country in every swing contest rejected election deniers. That big blowout that Kevin McCarthy promised in the House didn’t happen. We picked up a seat in the Senate,” he added.
“There’s just no rewriting. We’re in the 21st century. Every American saw with their own eyes what Donald Trump did, what the mob did to the police officers and the trauma that the police officers have since suffered,” Swalwell continued.
“There’s no rewriting that. You’re living on fantasy island if you think you can get Americans to reinterpret what happened that day.”
“For Democrats, we have to live in the great big center where most Americans are, and that great big center means just delivering on cost of gas, groceries, health care, bring down those costs, make our kids safe in their schools, make us strong in the world, help Ukraine stay in the fight, show we’re competent and contrast it with their chaos,” he added.
Swalwell’s remarks come weeks after FNC’s Tucker Carlson slammed Mitch McConnell and Chuck Schumer for trying to kill his January 6 footage broadcasts.
McConnell slammed Carlson and Fox News, saying they made “a mistake” for calling the January 6 a largely peaceful if chaotic protest.
Meanwhile, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer also blasted Carlson over the footage.
“Last night, Fox News with Speaker McCarthy (R-Calif.) as a willing, capable and powerful accomplice, aired one of the most shameful hours we have ever seen in the entire history of cable television,” Schumer said, calling for the end of Carlson’s broadcasts and censorship of Fox News hosts.
President Trump praised Carlson’s reporting cans called for those who withheld the evidence to be tried for Treason:
“GREAT JOB BY TUCKER CARLSON TONIGHT. The Unselect Committee of political Hacks & Thugs has been totally discredited. They knowingly refused to show the Videos that mattered. They should be tried for Fraud and Treason, and those imprisoned and being persecuted should be exonerated and released, NOW!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
