GOP Senator Mitt Romney rushed to the defense of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s latest freezing episode.
“We may expect that Mitch McConnell will check out for 20 seconds a day. But the other 86,380 seconds in the day, he does a pretty darn good job,” Romney said, according to ABC News.
“I’m firmly behind his remaining as our leader.”
Last week, McConnel froze up again when answering a simple question from reporters during a press conference in Kentucky.

After McConnell’s freezing episode, his spokesperson claimed, “Leader McConnell felt momentarily lightheaded and paused during his press conference today.”
“He has my full support and the support of the conference,” Sen. John Thune of South Dakota said.
“He sounds good to me, so, I’m all good with Mitch,” Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina reportedly said.
“I feel that he is fully prepared and able to conduct his duties,” Sen. Susan Collins of Maine noted, according to ABC News.
Earlier this week, McConnell was deemed “medically clear” to maintain his schedule despite another public freezing episode earlier this week.
“I have consulted with Leader McConnell and conferred with his neurology team,” attending physician to Congress Brian Monahan said.
“After evaluating yesterday’s incident, I have informed Leader McConnell that he is medically clear to continue with his schedule as planned.”
“Occasional lightheadedness is not uncommon in concussion recovery and can also be expected as a result of dehydration,” Monahan noted.
