Republican Senator Rand Paul asserted on Sunday that the nation’s chief medical adviser, Dr. Anthony Fauci, should be imprisoned for his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Paul made the remarks during an appearance on WABC 770 AM’s “The Cats Roundtable.”
“For his dishonesty, frankly, he should go to prison. Do you think the scientific knowledge that was gained from this research was worth the deaths of 20 million people?” Paul said to host John Catsimatidis, referring to Fauci.
“If you lie to Congress, and you’re dishonest, and you won’t accept responsibility. For his mistake in judgment, he should just be pilloried. He should never be accepted.”
The Republican Senator also slammed Fauci’s decision-making during the pandemic.
“History should judge him as a deficient person who made one of the worst decisions in public health history — in the entire history of the world,” he added.
Paul has repeatedly taken aim at Fauci over the origins of COVID-19, with his views being a consistent part of his commentary on the pandemic response from the government.
Last July, Paul made a criminal referral to the Justice Department against Fauci based on his denials under oath of the National Institute of Health’s funding of “gain-of-function” research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
Last October, Paul said there was no question that former White House chief medical adviser Anthony Fauci belongs in jail.
“And do you believe that Anthony Fauci belongs in jail?” Fox News host Sean Hannity asked Paul.
“Without question,” the Senator responded.
In the same month, news came that Fauci would receive a prestigious Namori Ethics Prize from the Inamori International Center for Ethics and Excellence at Case Western Reserve University for “greatly improving the condition of humankind.”
According to the press release from Case Western, Fauci has “saved millions of lives.”
“Dr. Fauci has cared not only for the nation’s health, but also the health of the world,” Case Western Reserve President Eric W. Kaler said.
“As a scientist, research leader and public health advisor, his contributions to scientific discovery have truly improved lives. His leadership through one of the most challenging times in history—the COVID-19 pandemic—serves as a model for us all.”
