Establishment Republican Mitt Romney claimed former President Donald Trump does not want to solve the border problem that Joe Biden created.
Over the past three years under Biden, over 11 million illegal aliens have crossed into the United States.
This comes as the Senate is currently working to give Ukraine another $61.4 billion in aid, with enate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell calling it a top priority.
Trump has fiercely opposed sending more money to Ukraine, calling on lawmakers to focus on securing the southern border.
For context, US aid to Ukraine has cost every American household hundreds of dollars, according to Heritage Foundation budget expert Richard Stern.
“The formal aid packages alone amount to a staggering $113 billion—roughly $900 per American household and almost 12 times the spending cuts promised by House leadership in the annual spending bills,” Stern told The Daily Signal.
However, Mitt Romney seems to think that Trump doesn’t want to solve the border problem.
“I think the border is a very important issue for Donald Trump,” Romney told CNN.
“And the fact that he would communicate to Republican senators and congresspeople that he doesn’t want us to solve the border problem because he wants to blame Biden for it is is really appalling,” Romney said.
“But the reality is that, that we have a crisis at the border, the American people are suffering as a result of what’s happening at the border,” he added.
“And someone running for president not to try and get the problem solved, as opposed to saying, hey, save that problem.”
“Don’t solve it. Let me take credit for solving it later,” he said.
