Mike Johnson, who was elected Speaker of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, said the FBI used Twitter to censor American speech until Elon Musk took over.
“Twitter was basically an FBI subsidiary before @elonmusk took it over,” Mike Johnson said.
“The Twitter files should be a matter of bipartisan concern for every member of Congress and every American citizen because it is a bedrock principle of our Constitution that the government does not get to decide what speech is acceptable or true.”

On Wednesday, the conservative Louisiana lawmaker won with 220 votes in the lower chamber of Congress.
Johnson is the fourth Republican nominated since Kevin McCarthy’s ouster on 3 October.
Following the vote, Johnson said that the last-minute negotiations meant that his wife was unable get a flight to Washington for his installation as Speaker.
“She’s a little worn out, we all are,” he said.
Besides being a free speech advocate, Johnson mentioned border security, inflation and the conflict in the Middle East as some of his priorities as Speaker.
“The challenge before us is great, but the time for action is now, and I will not let you down,” Johnson said.
“We know that there’s a lot going on in our country, domestically and abroad, and we are ready to get to work again to solve those problems.”
Johnson vowed to set an “aggressive” schedule now that the House is “back in business.”
Following Mr Johnson’s election, several representatives singled out the budget issue.
“We need to not waste any time,” New York Republican Anthony D’Esposito said of the issue.
“What we’ve done the last few days is not work.”
Meanwhile, Democrats had a total meltdown over Johnson becoming Speaker.
As Breitbart reported:
After House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) was unanimously elected by the Republican majority to lead the House of Representatives, the first Republican to be unanimously elected by his conference since 2011.
According to an emailed statement posted to X by Punch Bowl News founder Jake Sherman, President Joe Biden’s 2024 campaign strongly condemned the election of Johnson, despite Biden’s congratulations in an official statement from the White House.
“MAGA Mike Johnson’s ascension to the speakership cements the extreme MAGA takeover of the House Republican Conference,” Ammar Moussa, a spokesman for the Biden campaign, said in a statement.
