House Speaker Kevin McCarthy weighed in on the claims made by whistleblowers about the Hunter Biden investigation, accusing Joe Biden of lying bout his family’s business dealings after he claimed his son, Hunter, never made money in China.
On Monday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends,” McCarthy said, “The whole reason you have the WhatsApp message is because of the work the House Republicans have been doing. Not just [with] Rep. James Comer (R-KY), not just [with] Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), but this was in Ways and Means under Rep. Jason Smith (R-MO).”
“These are IRS long-term workers who have been through it and watched the abuse of power of how Hunter Biden was treated,” McCarthy said.
“I mean, they even waited to get the six-year statute of limitation[s] off…they wanted to have a special counsel, and now we’re seeing that the DOJ, the attorney general declined that, even though he’s saying something different,” he added.
“So, we have requested by July 6, Weiss to come in to answer these questions, because the IRS whistleblowers took copious notes during those meetings,” he continued.
He added:
“[N]ow we found the president has lied to us. He said they never dealt with anything in China.”
McCarthy announced on Monday that the House would undertake an impeachment inquiry into Biden’s Attorney General Merrick Garland by July 6.
“And if it comes true what the IRS whistleblower is saying, we’re going to start impeachment inquiries on the attorney general,” McCarthy said.
“We need to get to the facts,” McCarthy said.
“And that includes reconciling these clear disparities. US Attorney David Weiss must provide answers to the House Judiciary Committee. If the whistleblowers’ allegations are true, this will be a significant part of a larger impeachment inquiry into Merrick Garland’s weaponization of DOJ.”
Shapley gave testimony to the House on the IRS investigation into Hunter Biden’s alleged tax crimes.
US Attorney for Delaware Weiss told Shapley in an October 2022 meeting that he was “not the deciding official on whether charges are filed.”
Shapley also learned that US Attorney for DC Matthew Graves would not allow charges to be filed against Hunter Biden in his district.
