New York City Democratic Mayor Eric Adams is suing 17 charter bus companies for sending tens of thousands of illegal immigrants to his city.
Texas GOP Gov. Greg Abbott has pursued a policy of bussing illegal aliens to sanctuary cities due to the Biden administration’s lack of border enforcement.
Over the past year, over 110,000 illegals have arrived in New York City.
Adam’s suit, obtained by CBS News, set the figure at more than 33,600 sent to New York at Abbott’s directive, setting the cost of providing care for that number at $708 million.
Adams accused some defendants of working to circumvent a New York City executive order requiring that any charter bus transporting illegals whom the operator knows “are likely to seek emergency shelter and other immediate services” to inform the city first.
Recently, Adams has been facing backlash for sweeping cuts to city services, including law enforcement, which the Mayor banned in the massive influx of new arrivals to the city.
Last week, Adams admitted that New York City is “out of the room, literally.”
His remarks came despite his administration giving free hotel rooms to new arrivals.
The Daily Fetched reported:
Speaking with FOX5 NY’s Rosanna Scotto, Adams warned that border crossers and illegal aliens would soon be sleeping in the city streets if Biden continues to allow the open border to cause unprecedented unlawful immigration.
“We’re not just saying we’re out of room as a sound bite — we’re out of room, literally,” Adams said.
“People are going to be eventually sleeping on the streets.”
Adams also claimed he cannot revoke New York City’s sanctuary policy, which protects illegal aliens from being deported.

“We cannot by law tell someone if they come into the city, ‘You can’t come into the city,’” Adams said.
“We can’t even turn them over to ICE … the law states that we cannot notify ICE. I cannot break the law and enforce the law.”
