Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene said she was attacked by an “insane woman” at a restaurant while being yelled at by the woman’s son over her conservative political stances.
According to Greene, the mother-son had “no respect” for opposing viewpoints and was triggered by a difference in political opinions.
“They had no respect for the restaurant or the staff or the other people dining or people like me who simply have different political views,” Greene tweeted.
“They are self righteous, insane, and completely out of control,” she added.
“I was sitting at my table, working with my staff, and never even noticed these people until they turned into demons,” she explained.
“People used to respect others even if they had different views. But not anymore. Our country is gone.”
This isn’t the first time Green has been the subject of threats.
Earlier this month, Federal prosecutors announced a New York man had pleaded guilty to making threatening phone calls to Greene’s office in Washington, D.C.
Joseph F. Morelli, 51, admitted leaving voicemail messages to Greene in March 2022.
“I’m gonna have to take your life into my own hands … I’m gonna hurt you. Physically, I’m gonna harm you,” Morelli said in one of the messages.
Marjorie Taylor Greene noted on Twitter that the FBI did not act in a swift and draconian fashion regarding the threats.
Morelli isn’t in prison yet, a stark contrast to how they treat other “threats to democracy.”
MTG faced controversy last week after tweeting on President’s Day that the country needs a “national divorce” between liberal and conservative states.
“We need to separate by red states and blue states and shrink the federal government. Everyone I talk to says this,” Greene, who was re-elected to the House last November, argued.
“From the sick and disgusting woke culture issues shoved down our throats to the Democrat’s [sic] traitorous America Last policies, we are done,” she wrote in her tweet last week.
