A majority of Democratic voters say President Joe Biden and Robert F Kennedy Jr (RFK) to engage in a 2024 presidential primary debate, according to a new poll.
Around 78% of likely general election voters want Biden and Kennedy to debate, including 57.5% of Democrats, 92.8% of Republicans, and 80.1% of non-affiliated voters, Trafalgar Group/Convention of States Action poll revealed.
The Democratic National Committee drew criticisms after announcing it would not hold debates for the 2024 primaries.
The Real Clear Politics (RCP) average for a 2024 national Democratic primary indicates Biden and Kennedy have 62% and 15.6% support, respectively, and author Marianne Williamson has 6.1%.
Regardless of whether Kennedy and Biden will debate, RFK Jr is continuing to have momentum across the board.
As The Daily Fetched reported earlier this month, Kennedy received endorsement from Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, who said he believes the presidential candidate has the best chance to beat GOP’s leading contenders,
A majority of voters think Biden is too old to serve a second term, according to the poll.
Republicans and other voters agree Biden’s age is an issue; only 29.3% of Democrats believe the president is too old for reelection.
Biden looks increasingly likely to lose at least the first two primaries to RFK Jr in 2024, despite it being a certainty the President will be the Democratic nominee.
According to Axios, the scenario would be “if they’re in the traditional first-to-vote states of Iowa and New Hampshire.”
The Conservative Brief notes that the Biden campaign announced that they wouldn’t put his name on the ballot in either of those states if they have their primaries before South Carolina.
Axios reported further:
“Democrats in Iowa and New Hampshire could defy Biden and move ahead with their contests — even as the party warns it will strip them of their national convention delegates if they jump the gun.”
“That sets up a scenario in which Robert F. Kennedy Jr. or another long-shot Democrat could win those states — and embarrass the president.”
