Vice President Kamala Harris called for more gun control on Friday, telling volunteers of the Mike Bloomberg-affiliated Everytown for Gun Safety that more gun control is needed.
Harris began telling the crowd that “gun violence is the leading cause of death of the children of America,” a false claim while pushing for gun control.
According to numbers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), firearm-related deaths for children aged 0-17 totaled 2,281 in 2020.
However, the number of motor vehicle deaths for children the same age was 2,503.
The CDC also showed that accidental suffocation deaths are ten times higher than gun deaths for children.
But Harris is repeating a lie that gun violence is the leading cause of death for children.
Harris added, “It’s the number one cause of death, not some disease, although this is a form of a disease.”
The VP pushed for flag laws, an “assault weapons” ban, and universal background checks.
Watch
All three are failing to stop shootings in California.
Despite California having every gun control at the federal level, the FBI report on “Active Shooter Incidents” shows California as the number one state for such incidents in 2021.
Despie the claims Kamala Harris made, Robert F. Kennedy Jr said more gun control would not stop school shootings.
“Anyone who tells you that we can end the violence to our children that’s going on now by removing people’s guns, in the margin that has been left to us by this very expansive Supreme Court decision [Bruen], is not being truthful with you,” RFK said.
Earlier this month, RFK Jr told Elon Musk, “My position on gun control is that I’m not going to take away anybody’s guns.”
“I’m a constitutional maximalist, and the issue has been settled by the Supreme Court.”
“Guns, the proliferation, clearly, abets violence, but anybody who tells you that they can remove enough guns, AR-15s, by tinkering at the margins and get to the situation they have in western Europe is puling your leg,” he added.
