Robert F. Kennedy Jr explained during a town hall in New Hampshire why taking guns would not stop school shootings.
National Gun Rights Association’s Will Fite tweeted about RFK’s town hall after the presidential candidate stated he was not going to take away guns.
RFK Jr pointed to the Supreme Court of the United States Bruen (2022) decision, noting it is not possible to “do anything” to secure gun control, even if someone wanted more of it.
While focusing on school shootings, RFK Jr rejected claims that taking guns would be effective in stopping such attacks.
“Anyone who tells you that we can end the violence to our children that’s going on now by removing people’s guns, in the margin that has been left to us by this very expansive Supreme Court decision [Bruen], is not being truthful with you,” RFK said.
RFK J emphasized that “something has changed in this country. It’s not the guns; we’ve always had the guns.”
He said the focus should shift from guns to investigating how psychiatric drugs impact children.

Earlier this month, RFK Jr told Elon Musk, “My position on gun control is that I’m not going to take away anybody’s guns.”
“I’m a constitutional maximalist, and the issue has been settled by the Supreme Court.”
“Guns, the proliferation, clearly, abets violence, but anybody who tells you that they can remove enough guns, AR-15s, by tinkering at the margins and get to the situation they have in western Europe is puling your leg,” he added.
“It’s not going to happen.”
He also pledged to “thoroughly investigate” any role that “psychiatric drugs” play in high-profile shootings.
