MSNBC’s Joy Reid said that having a secure southern border in the United States would be like racist segregation in the 1960s.
“Well, people like Congressman Chip Roy saying that Texas should resist the Supreme Court’s ruling that now allows the Biden Border Patrol to remove razor wire barriers is a bit like ‘old southerners’ saying they will resist integrating black people into society sixty something years ago,” Reid said.
Reid thinks that not liking thousands of undocumented people flooding into the U.S. makes you racist.
“This massive resistance, it sounds like the old Southerners who said that we will resist integration by any means necessary, that Chip Roy language,” Reid told her guest, former Hillary Clinton advisor Paola Ramos.
Ramos suggested the Republican Party is “essentially telling local authorities to break the law” by trying to stop the flow of immigrants crossing the border.
Earlier in the segment, Reid claimed:
“There is no better example of what MAGA World wants for the rest of America than Texas.\
She further described “Draconian measures meant to secure the border, which includes letting migrants, including a mother and her two children, drown, setting up buoys with buzz saws, barring federal agents from assisting with border control, and passing legislation that makes it a state crime to cross the border.”
Reid also said that “Republicans now see calling for zero tolerance on the border as the only way to animate their base.”

Last week, Reid suffered a meltdown after Donald Trump’s Iowa caucuses victory, expressing concerns about the high percentage of white Christians in the state.
“These are white Christians. That this is a state that is over represent overrepresented by white Christians… Iowa is about 61% white Christian,” said Reid.
“The country as a whole is approximately 41% white Christian, and in Iowa, we’re talking about evangelical white Christians.”
