MSNBC “Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough was blasted on social media after declaring that former president Donald Trump would begin arresting journalists if he elected president in November.
Citing a recent comment from the New York Times, Maggie Haberman, on Trump calling the media criminals, Scarborough began spreading the narrative that members of the press would be jailed under his watch.

However, X users were quick to point out that zero journalists were targeted for harassment during Trump’s four years in office and that the journalists were targeted under Joe Biden.

Other X users noted that the Obama administration spied on Fox News reporter James Rosen.
Another noted former CBS reporter, Catherine Herridge, was found in civil contempt for refusing to reveal her sources in her report about the likely illegal FBI investigation.

As The Daily Fetched reported:
Scarborough argued that Democrat President Joe Biden “supports American democracy,” while Trump “supports a new form of government here that’s authoritarian. It’s really that simple.”
Scarborough began his rant after slamming Trump supporters for claiming the former President isn’t a “Nazi” and isn’t a “fascist.”
“What hasn’t he done?” Scarborough asked.

In the same month, Jen Psaki warned Democrats that Trump will “lock up” his political opponents if re-elected president.
“If elected to a second term, Donald Trump would prosecute anyone he deems an enemy, unleash troops on protesters, and essentially unravel the rule of law as we know it,” she said.
Earlier, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow claimed Trump would put the news station on trial and “execute us.”
Trump “wants to put MSNBC on trial for treason so that he can execute us,” Maddow said on “The View.”
