Twice failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is among the Democrats’ top picks for the party’s primary if President Joe Biden drops out of the 2024 race, according to a recent poll.
Out of the 2,000-plus respondents to the Harvard-Harris poll, many expressed doubts about Biden’s mental fitness to serve, while others said he is worsening rather than improving as president.
Around three in five likely voters said Joe Biden should not run in 2024.
There were, however, pronounced partisan differences, with 33 percent of Democrats compared to 81 percent of Republicans and 66 percent of Independents expressing the same view.
Strong majorities across the political spectrum agree that the country needs “another choice” to go against former President Donald Trump.
Pollsters asked Democrat voters who their pick would be if Biden opted out of the 2024 race.
Their top pick if Biden drops out in 2024 was President Kamala Harris (24 percent), with Hillary Clinton coming in at second with 13 percent.
The following picks included:
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) (10 percent)
California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg both with 7 percent each.
Regarding net favorability ratings, Trump trailed only Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (52 percent versus 51 percent), with the former president well ahead of Ms. Clinton (44 percent) in 7th place.
Last week, former president Obama’s top campaign advisor said Biden’s chances of winning the 2024 presidential election were “no better” than 50-50, or maybe worse.

David Axelrod made a dire prediction for Biden to New York Times Columnist Maureen Dowd on Saturday.
Biden will turn 81 on Monday and 86 at the end of a second term.
“I think he has a 50-50 shot here, but no better than that, maybe a little worse,” Axelrod said.
“He thinks he can cheat nature here and it’s really risky.”
“They’ve got a real problem if they’re counting on Trump to win it for them,” he added.
“I remember Hillary doing that, too,” Obama’s campaign advisor said.
Even high-profile celebrity figures are turning against Biden.

The former Biden advocate slammed the president in a 0-minute live session on Instagram, vowing to never endorse another aspiring president.
Cardi B, whose real name is Belcalis Almánzar, responded to the news that y New York City Mayor Eric Adams would be cutting 5 percent from much-needed services in the Big Apple to deal with the migrant crisis.
Earlier this month, Biden raised eyebrows after commenting on Gavin Newsom, which alluded to 2024 rumors that the California Governor might be preparing to run for president.
“He’s been one hell of a governor, man,” Biden said.
“Matter of fact, he can be anything he wants; he could have the job I’m lookin’ for,” he added.
