Matt Gaetz gave a brilliant ‘mic drop’ moment on the House floor this week after he obliterated government spending and “corrupt” Senator Bob Menendez in one explosive sentence.
Gaetz isn’t shy about calling out Democrats for wasting taxpayers’ money.
A government shutdown is looming, with a September 30 deadline.
Meanwhile, the Democrats are going all in on the “extreme MAGA Republican” narrative in the hope it sticks.
But it isn’t working.
Democrats are angry at Republicans like Matt Gaetz who do not want taxpayer’s money wasted like we’ve seen this year from the Biden administration.
The same rampant spending is fuelling inflation, causing untold suffering for Americans.
Earlier this week, the Senate advanced a continuing resolution to hold the government open through November 17.
They now intend to vote later this week.
While the House passed some appropriations bills and is expected to vote on a CR on Friday, Gatez is calling for more to be done about the spending.
“We are devaluing American money so rapidly that in America today, you can’t even bribe Democrat Senators with cash alone!” Gaetz said with a veiled jab at Bob Menendez and the spending.
“You need to bring gold bars to get the job done, just so that the bribes hold value!” Gaetz said.

While the line is funny, it also makes an important point.
This is a very astute observation. It's a major milestone in the death of a fiat currency when its issuers need to get bribed in a harder money. https://t.co/0l6DRFrTtR— Saifedean Ammous (@saifedean) September 27, 2023
Gaetz wants to rein in the exploding national debt and put the nation on a sustainable financial footing.
However, Democrats claim it’s just a political stunt that ignores the realities of a divided government.
Earlier this week, Gaetz said the so-called shutdown politics favored the “special interests” trying to sway House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.
“The Department of Homeland Security appropriations bill was passed out of the Appropriations Committee in June, and yet Kevin McCarthy hasn’t put it on the floor in more than 100 days,” Gatez told FNC host Maria Bartiromo.
“That is not serious,” he continued.
“And you know why Kevin McCarthy didn’t move our border appropriations bill?” he asked.
“Because the lobbyists and the special interests who own Kevin McCarthy want to put us in this position, where we’re backed up against the wall, facing shutdown politics,” Gatez continued.
“And what that does is it centralizes power to the people that they buy off with PAC donations and lobbyist donations,” he added.
“And then the membership doesn’t get to make real contributions to that process,” he said.
Gaetz posted on X last week:
“Trump Opposes the Continuing Resolution. Hold the line.”
Gaetz’s post included a post from Trump urging Republicans to use the power of the purse to place a check on Joe Biden’s “weaponized Government that refuses to close the Border, and treats half the country as Enemies of the State.”
