The director of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), Chris Wray, appeared to admit that President Joe Biden is under investigation for accepting Ukrainian bribes.
During a hearing at the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, Wray was asked by Republican Congressman Tom Tiffany (WI-07) whether Joe Biden had ever accepted payments from Burisma – a Ukrainian holding company – or any other foreign companies while he served as Vice President, President, or a private citizen.
“As you may know, there is an ongoing investigation being by the US Attorney in Delaware, Mr. Weiss, appointed by President Trump in the last administration, that our Baltimore field office is working with,” Wray responded.
When pressed with a follow-up question, Wray then refused to confirm whether Biden was under investigation.
Tiffany then doubled down, asking Wray, “So [Biden’s] not under investigation?”
“I didn’t say that either,” Wray responded.
“By long-standing department policy and practice, I’m not going to be confirming or denying who is or isn’t under investigation,” Wray explained.
Wray’s testimony follows revelations that an executive of Burisma told the FBI he would have to pay “$5 million for one Biden, [and] $5 million for the other Biden.”
On Wednesday, Florida Republican Representative Matt Gaetz tore in FBI Director Chris Wray during his Wednesday hearing before the House Judiciary Committee.
Gaetz fired questions at Wray about the alleged two-tiered justice system in America and the weaponization of federal law enforcement against conservatives.
Gaetz started his questioning with an allegation that Hunter Biden sent a WhatsApp message demanding money from a Chinese business contact while invoking his father.
“Sounds like a shakedown, doesn’t it, Director?” Matt Gaetz asked Chris Wray.
“I’m not going to get into commenting on that,” Wray replied.
Gaetz responded, “You seem deeply uncurious about it, don’t you? Almost suspiciously uncurious. Are you protecting the Bidens?”
