Elon Musk responded to recent reports that New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham banned guns for 30 days, saying she did so by “illegally” violating the Second Amendment.
As The Daily Fetched reported, Grisham issued an emergency public health order that would ban guns for 30 days in the state’s largest city of Albuquerque.
While Grisham expected legal challenges, she said she felt compelled to act due to rising gun crime in the city.
Elon Musk responded with a post on X, which said Grisham was violating th second amendment:
“At risk of stating what should be obvious, deliberately violating the Constitution is next-level illegal. How soon can this person be removed from office?”
New Mexico state representative John Block (R-51) blasted Grisham’s order by calling for her impeachment.
When asked about the gun ban, Grisham responded by stressing her belief that “no constitutional right … is intended to be absolute.”
Watch
Grisham asked reporters to envision a “perfect world” where a ban on firearms would allow police to focus on “the real criminals.”
“No constitutional right, in my view, including my oath, is intended to be absolute,” she said.
“There are restrictions on free speech, there are restrictions on my freedoms,” she continued before listing victims of gun violence.
