President Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr.’s X (formerly Twitter) account was hacked this morning, as several disturbing messages appeared, including one falsely announcing President Trump had died.
“I’m sad to announce my father, Donald Trump, has passed away, I will be running for president in 2024,” read the first message from Don Jr.’s hacked Twitter account at 8:25 a.m, the New York Post reported.
Trump Jr. sent an unrelated message on his Truth Social after the fake death announcement to prove his father was still alive.
A series of hacked messages later appeared on Don Jr.’s account, including an inflammatory one saying that “North Korea is about to get smoked.”
Another wrote, “some interesting messages with Jeffrey Epstein.”
Other tweets read “F–k Joe Biden,” calling him a “stupid ass” n-word.
Another claiming crypto personality, Richard Heart, who was accused of stealing $12 million from investors, is innocent.
Trump Jr’s spokesman, Andrew Surabian, tweeted that the earlier messages were “obviously not true,” confirming: “Don’s account has been hacked.”
According to CNN, the post had been reshared more than 1,000 times on X and viewed hundreds of thousands of times.
Below is the entire list of hacked messages:
Earlier this year, Twitter fell victim to a major data breach after 235 million users’ email addresses were leaked online. It is believed the hack may have occurred as early as 2021.
The Platform suffered a data breach with some 235 million users’ email addresses being published on an internet forum, The New York Post reported.
The hack has raised concerns about the potential for hacking, phishing, and doxxing.
The co-founder of Israeli cybersecurity firm Hudson, RockAlon Gal, said the breach is “one of the most significant leaks I’ve seen” and “will, unfortunately, lead to a lot of hacking, targeted phishing, and doxxing.”
