Democrats were dealt another blow this week after another state lawmaker, State Rep. Jeremy LaCombe, announced he was leaving the party and switching to GOP.
LaCombe announced on Monday he was leaving the Democratic Party and would be registering as a Republican.
While it’s unclear why Jeremy LaCombe switched from Democrats to GOP, he is now the second Louisiana Democrat to jump ship in less than a month and the third nationwide after another lawmaker in North Carolina switched party affiliations.
In March, Louisiana state Rep. Francis Thompson switched his party affiliation giving Republicans in the state House a supermajority.
Earleir this month, North Carolina state Rep. Tricia Cotham also dumped Democrats giving the state House a supermajority.
However, the switches are not surprising given that Joe Biden suffers near-record low approval ratings among key groups.
Here are Biden’s approval ratings among those groups:
Women (43% now vs. 42% low)
Voters ages 45+ (41% vs. 39% low)
Suburban voters (41% vs. 39% low)
Rural voters (31% vs. 30% low)
Democrats (81% vs. 78% low)
Democratic men in particular (79% vs. 78% low), according to a recent Fox News poll.
Last week, we reported that even CNN host David Chalian looked visibly shocked while reading Biden’s awful poll numbers.
CNN’s new poll revealed that less than a third of voters, a mesially 32 percent, want to see Biden back in the White House in 2025, while a whopping 67 percent said they Don’t want Biden to be president again.
Meanwhile, Trump enjoys much stronger support after a recent Rasmussen poll showed him lead Biden in a hypothetical 2024 matchup.
