Tucker Carlson’s interview with the Russian president Vladimir Putin has got CNN in complete meltdown mode as they called the former Fox News host’s actions similar to fighting alongside Adolf Hitler in WWII.
Host Erin Burnett denounced Carlson as a “Putin sympathizer” without any proof.
Burnett began by introducing Carlson’s visit to Russia by referring to Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s recent confrontation with his own military amid a “massive shakeup in Kyiv coming as Putin … [tries] to court the MAGA GOP in the United States.”
She then called Carlson “one of the members of the MAGA GOP” before characterizing his visit to Moscow as “possibly there to interview Putin, definitely there as a Putin-supporting celebrity.”
She then explained that while it’s “unclear whether Putin and Carlson will sit down for an interview,” it would “give Putin a chance to sit down with a big supporter.”
Burnett attempted to prove her bold accusation by sharing a clip of Carlson from his Fox News show ahead of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
In the clip, the then-Fox News host asked his viewers rhetorically, “Why do I hate Putin so much?”

“Putin is trying to court the MAGA GOP in the United States! In fact, one of the leaders of the MAGA GOP is in Moscow tonight! It's the man you see here with the MAGA leader Donald Trump." pic.twitter.com/VtdgFidfqZ
Carlson then demonstrated how such intense personal hatred is unfounded, asking, “Has Putin ever called me a racist? Has he ever threatened to get me fired for disagreeing with him?”
While Carlson’s point may appear perfectly reasonable to some extent, it is easy to see how his words inflamed the left.
But Burnett used the clip to conclude that Carlson is Putin’s No. 1 fan, noting how she’ll “always remember watching that clip. I was standing in Ukraine, 48 hours before the war began there.”
She then claimed Carlson “stood by Putin consistently all the way through,” accusing him of being “Putin’s mouthpiece in the United States” and of turning “a blind eye to the atrocities committed by Putin.”
It’s also worth noting that Volodomyr Zelenskyy has sat down for plenty of interviews with Western media outlets, he’s an example:

While there is no question that Putin is a reprehensible person, that does not give a pass for the media to do their jobs.
