Republicans in Congress slammed the latest so called ‘bipartisan’ deal on Joe Biden’s border policy legislation, which they noted gives another $60 billion to Ukraine and nothing for a border wall.
“I urge Congress to come together and swiftly pass this bipartisan agreement,” President Joe Biden said.
The bill, released on Sunday, titled the Emergency National Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2024, has already attracted anger from GOP Reps and Senators, who called it an ‘open border bill.’
Senator Rand Paul slammed the legislation, calling it “anti-American,” noting that the extra $60 billion has been allocated for Ukraine despite reports of “corrupt officials” embezzling $40 million was recently uncovered.
Amazing. This predictable revelation is only a week old and yet the Swamp’s new “border security” bill gives Ukraine $60 billion more….from the squandering of your money to the fake border reforms, it’s safe to declare this bill as anti-American. I’m a NO.— Rand Paul (@RandPaul) February 5, 2024
Officials stole $40…
Republican Rep. Steve Scalise of Louisiana also blasted the Senate legislation, which includes a further $14 billion for Israel.
“Here’s what the people pushing this ‘deal’ aren’t telling you: It accepts 5,000 illegal immigrants a day and gives automatic work permits to asylum recipients—a magnet for more illegal immigration.”
Let me be clear: The Senate Border Bill will NOT receive a vote in the House.— Steve Scalise (@SteveScalise) February 5, 2024

Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik also chimed in:
“This Joe Biden/Chuck Schumer Open Border Bill is an absolute non-starter and will further incentivize thousands of illegals to pour in across our borders daily.”

House Republicans have already passed HR2 – the Secure Our Border Act, which would actually secure the border and…
Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida said if the legislation passes and Trump wins in November, he will be helpless to fix the border.
The Senate Amnesty Bill literally would force President Trump to let in illegals well into his term.— Matt Gaetz (@mattgaetz) February 5, 2024
Any Republican who votes for this is no better than a Democrat! https://t.co/HleZ7napFc
Rep. Eli Crane said the bill “legitimises an invasion”
Kari Lake said the co-sponsor of the legislation, Senator Kyrsten Sinema, should run for office in Ukraine.
“And each year the Schumer-Sinema Border Bill legalizes nearly 2 million invaders who have breached our border during the Bidenvasion,” Lake said.
“This Bill is DOA. We the People will not sit idly by as crooked politicians make permanent these dangerous/deadly open borders.”

This Bill is DOA.
We the People will not sit idly by as crooked politicians make permanent these dangerous/deadly open borders.
Rep. Michael Cloud said the bill was “absurd” for helping Ukraine more than the southern border.
House of Representatives Speaker Mike Johnson declared it “dead on arrival” if it reaches his chamber.
“This bill is even worse than we expected, and won’t come close to ending the border catastrophe the president has created,” he said in a statement on X, formerly called Twitter.
Others warned there are likely hidden provisions in the bill due to it being 370 pages long and no one has read it all.
As Reuters reported:
If the bill were to become law, it would mark the most significant changes in U.S. immigration and border security in decades.
Some progressive Democrats are angry the measure does nothing to provide a pathway to citizenship for the 11 million undocumented people who have lived in the U.S. for many years, including “Dreamer” immigrants who were brought in as children.
Independent Senator Kyrsten Sinema told reporters the legislation would secure the U.S. southern border, including by requiring the Department of Homeland Security to temporarily “shut down” the frontier to most migrants if there are an average of more than 5,000 crossing attempts per day over seven days.
