Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy promised to boost anti-censorship video-sharing platform Rumble to become a “top player” following the announcement of a new partnership.
Portnoy announced the partnership on Monday, saying:
“I’m excited about Rumble’s commitment to sports and broadening audiences.”
“With the power of Barstool Sports, we are going to help Rumble be the top player in the video, cloud, and livestreaming space.”
Currently, Barstool Sports has more than 1.7 million subscribers on YouTube but also posts all of its videos to Rumble, including its most popular series such as “One Bite Pizza Reviews,” “Barstool Gambling,” and “Jerry After Dark.”
“The partnership with Barstool Sports is a major step in pursuit of our mission to continue building a portfolio of widely popular sports and entertainment content,” Rumble Chairman and CEO Chris Pavlovski said.
“Rumble is quickly emerging as a leading platform for the under-30 demographic, and we’re excited for Barstool Sports to be a significant part of our rapid growth.”
Barstool gained a whopping 9,000 followers on Rumble within days of the announcement.
Google Finance reported that Rumble stock increased more than 60% since the announcement.
Rumbled said on its website:
“One of the most influential sports, lifestyle, and entertainment brands on the internet, Barstool Sports has built and fostered a loyal and engaged audience with innovative, comedic content that has wide-reaching distribution, including podcasts, video, social, live events, pay-per-view, and subscriptions. The brand currently reaches 200M fans across social media platforms and continues to grow rapidly. “
TripRanks reported:
“The Barstool impact is driving gains right now, but Rumble isn’t resting on its collective laurels.”
Rumble also rolled out a new tool that’s giving it a little more of a competitive edge: a livestreaming tool known as Rumble Studio. With live streaming, users can effectively air live video and can even stream that video to different platforms.
Audience engagement tools are also included and may well represent the best chance to unseat YouTube’s current dominance in the field.”
