Bill Gates AI Will Be Educating Children within 18 Months

Billionaire Bill Gates predicted artificial intelligence (AI) will soon take a key role in educating children in teaching reading and writing in the next 18 months.

Well, given that OpenAI’s chatbot ChatGPT recently described a sickening sexual fantasy that involved sex acts with children, it appears a few things need ironing out before Gates’s prediction comes anywhere near fruition.

ChatGPT is currently in the process of removing jobs usually taken by humans.

The AI tool can draft emails or write code in a matter of seconds, and the prospect of it wiping out administration roles within the next five years is very probable.

ChatGPT is also helping students complete essays and cheat on their assignments, with many educators unable to tell the difference as to whether a human completed work.

During a fireside chat at a conference in San Diego, Bill Gates predicted AI solutions would commonly assist teachers educating children, improving reading and writing.

“What a good teacher does is take your essay and mark it up and say, ‘Oh, this isn’t clear, and the summary should have included this.’ That is a high cognitive exercise, and software, except at the really trivial kind of grammar level, has had essentially zero,” the multibillionaire noted.

“Particularly once you get out of a very templated writing exercise, the amount of feedback to help me improve my writing is very low and these A.I.s actually are good at that.”

Gates also noted that the accessibility of A.I. language tools would quickly increase as hardware and software improves.

“Having access to a tutor is too expensive for most students,” he continued, “especially having that tutor adapt and remember everything that you’ve done and look across your entire body of work.”

Microsoft poured billions of dollars into OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT.

More and more educators are now using the AI tool to draft curriculum and lesson plans, while 73% of teachers and 68% of students agree the systems help with learning.

ChatGPT can circumvent conventional plagiarism detection software, allowing it to be used for essays without detection.

“Now, there may be a few that completely surprise everybody and rise to be the next Google or Microsoft based on their A.I. advances,” Gates remarked.

“But I guarantee you, it won’t be more than two out of a thousand. And it could be zero, honestly, in terms of the base technology,” the bilionaire continued.

Besides the education system, AI could also be running the government.

Britain’s science minister called for ChatGPT to help run the government earlier this year.

“We should never be afraid of these technologies. We should be embracing them,” the minister told The Telegraph.

However, Twitter CEO Elon Musk pushed back against the rush to A.I. warning the technology could be an existential threat to humanity.

According to Musk, ChatGPT is an example of “training A.I. to be woke.”
