House Speaker Kevin McCarthy promised earlier this month he would release all January 6 riot footage.
McCarthy gave Fox News host Tucker Carlson a whopping 41,000 hours of Capitol surveillance footage from January 6th, 2021.
Axios reports that excerpts will begin airing in the coming weeks.
Carlson’s producers have already begun reviewing the footage, including various camera angles around the Capitol building.
“I think the public should see what happened on that day,” McCarthy said of the footage.
“I watched what Nancy Pelosi did, where she politicized it. For the first time in the history — as a speaker — not allowing the minority to appoint to a committee. We watched the politicization of this. I think the American public should actually see what happened instead of a report that’s written on a political basis.”
Carlson himself also weighed in on the footage.
“There was never any legitimate reason for this footage to remain secret,” Carlson said.
“If there was ever a question that’s in the public’s interest to know, it’s what actually happened on January 6,” he added. “By definition, this video will reveal it. It’s impossible for me to understand why any honest person would be bothered by that.”
The Democrat’s murky claims surrounding the January 6 riot prompted Carlson to address the holes in the left’s narratives surrounding the event.
The incident at the Capitol has been used as a political tool to paint Republicans as insurrectionists.
Carlson, now having access to the footage, will most likely give bullet proof counter-arguments because there will now be evidence to back them up.
The burning question remains, will the new footage shed light on who unlocked the doors and encouraged protesters to enter the Capitol?
