A Texas National Guardsman has been caught trying to smuggle an illegal alien past the main highway checkpoint into Texas.
According to Kinney County Sheriff Brad Coe, the soldier was approaching a tactical Border Patrol pop-up operation along Highway 674.
Before the arrival, the silver GMC SUV made a sudden U-turn, which raised the alarm of the station patrol, which then tried to pull the vehicle over.
However, when the car refused to pull over, it resulted in a chase that ended with the soldier’s arrest.
“I’m so stupid,” said the soldier, whose car was pulled off the road with a spike strip.
“Yeah, you are f stupid,” replied the arresting officer.
“You know how many people you could’ve killed?”
The driver admitted he was carrying a weapon in the SUV during the pursuit.
The migrant in tow “bailed” during the chase and managed to escape into some underbrush, police said.
The Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed the soldier was a Texas State Guard Soldier Savion Johnson.
NewNation correspondent Ali Bradley, also confirmed with sources that Johnson was expected to be released from jail later that day.
Governor Greg Abbott called the Guardsman a “traitor.”
“If the allegations are true, the accused is a traitor and a criminal,” Abbott said.
“We have zero tolerance for Texans who violate laws that directly contradict the mission we are seeking to achieve.”
“The accused’s illegal smuggling may subject him to a mandatory minimum prison sentence of at least 10 years. He deserves more,” the Republican added.

The news comes just weeks after U.S. Border Patrol Chief Jason Owens highlighted the sheer magnitude of the ongoing border crisis under Joe Biden, revealing that people from over 160 countries had entered the country illegally this fiscal year alone.

During an appearance on CBS’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday morning, Chief Owens was asked, “How are people from Nepal and Africa coming here?”
“So far, this fiscal year alone, we have had people from 160 countries or more come across our border illegally,” Chief Owens said.
“Every country and every region has smugglers that try to facilitate a pipeline for them to get to where they are going, and they are connected with one another.”
“If they are coming from Europe or coming from Asia, they will find ways to get to maybe South America, and from South America, then they may make their way up to the Darien Gap and make their way to Central America and ultimately find their way to decision points that take them to different points along our borders,” Chief Owens continued.
