In another example of what “Trump derangement syndrome” can do to one’s career, ‘woke’ Singer Maren Morris has declared she is ditching Country music due to so-called “problems” President Donald Trump brought on the genre.
“After the Trump years, people’s biases were on full display,” Morris said in an interview with the Los Angeles Times.
“It just revealed who people really were and that they were proud to be misogynistic and racist and homophobic and transphobic,” Morris said.
Morris is well known for her pushing far-left agendas.
Last year, she launched an aggressive attack against the wife of country singer Jason Aldean, Brittany, because she had dared to oppose child sex changes.
Of course, the media sided with Morris and spun the situation as Brittany being ‘called out’ for her remarks, portraying them as a “transphobic joke.”
The singer believes misogyny, racism, homophobia, and transphobia have now infected the country music genre, and blamed it on the “Trump years.”
“It just revealed who people really were and that they were proud to be misogynistic and racist and homophobic and transphobic,” she said.
Morris told the LA Times, “I call it butt rock.”
“People are streaming these songs out of spite,” Morris said.
“It’s not out of true joy or love of the music. It’s to own the libs. And that’s so not what music is intended for. Music is supposed to be the voice of the oppressed — the actual oppressed. And now it’s being used as this really toxic weapon in culture wars.”
During the interview, Morris noted she has “always been an asker of questions and a status quo challenger” because she is a woman.
Morris added that her exit from the country music genre is about “disarming” herself from “trauma.”
“I can’t bail water out of this sinking ship anymore. It’s so futile. I choose happiness.”
