The Klaus Schwab-run World Economic Forum (WEF) claims AI-powered misinformation is major threat to the global economy.
The globalist organization released its Global Risks Report, which says AI-powered misinformation is the primary threat to the global economy.
According to the WEF, misinformation and disinformation are a serious threat to democracy and societal harmony, and they vowed to tackle the issues.
As Breitbart reported, “the report draws on insights from experts and leaders across various fields and expresses concern over the rising popularity of generative AI technologies like ChatGPT. These technologies simplify the creation of sophisticated AI-generated content, which the WEF claims gives everyone the capability to manipulate public opinion – an ability once reserved for those with specialized tech skills.“
The WEF also expressed concern about the potential for AI-driven misinformation ahead of the 2024 elections.
Carolina Klint, a risk management leader at Marsh, warned the potential for AI to destabilize democratic processes and amplify societal division.
“You can leverage AI to do deepfakes and to really impact large groups, which really drives misinformation,” Klint said.
She also warned that societies could become further “polarized” as people find it harder to verify facts.
She added that such ‘misinformation’ could also raise questions regarding the legitimacy of elected governments, “which means that democratic processes could be eroded, and it would also drive societal polarization even further.”
Klint noted that AI could empower malicious actors with easier means to execute cyberattacks.
“You don’t need to be the sharpest tool in the shed to be a malicious actor,” Klint said.
Last year, Director Ridley Scott also warned about the dangers of artificial intelligence (AI), describing it as a “technical hydrogen bomb.”
“We have to lock down AI,” he said.
“And I don’t know how you’re gonna lock it down,’ he added.
“They have these discussions in the government, ‘How are we gonna lock down AI?'”
