Amazon’s virtual assistant technology, Alexa, is under fire again after allegedly telling users that the 2020 presidential election was “stolen by a massive amount of election fraud.”
According to The Washington Post, Alexa cited Rumble and Substack to argue that the election was “notorious for many incidents of irregularities and indications pointing to electoral fraud taking place in major metro centers.”
Following the reports, Amazon was forced to announce it only uses so-called credible sources such as Ballotpedia and Reuters when giving information regarding elections.
The company went on to say it would “address the problem.”
Amazon spokeswoman Lauren Raemhild in a statement:
“These responses were errors that were delivered a small number of times and quickly fixed when brought to our attention.”
“We continually audit and improve the systems we have in place for detecting and blocking inaccurate content,” Raemhild added.
Amazon said it has now altered its algorithmic programming to prevent Alexa from answering questions about the election.
However, other questions still prompt the Alexa to make other claims regarding the 2020 election being stolen.
As Business Insider noted, the new report is likely to bolster concerns about technology’s role in the spread of misinformation, something officials have been increasingly worried about ahead of the 2024 election.
This isn’t the first time Alexa has made claims about the US presidential elections.
Last month, Alexa told a user there will not be a 2024 election because the “War Powers Act of 1973” will be invoked.
As The Daily Fetched reported:
In a video posted to X, formerly known as Twitter, by Conservative influencer account Chuck Callesto, the man asks Alexa, “Alexa, who will win the next American election?”
Alexa responds, “The 2024 American election will not take place, there will be no winner, the War Powers Resolution of 1973, or the War Powers Act, will be invoked by the act of war with Russia and China.
Alexa continued, “Once invoked, the standing Party will retain and remain in power.”

Tucker Carlson’s recently predicted that “There will be a hot war between the United States and Russia within the next year.”
“There will be a hot war between the United States and Russia within the next year, Tucker warned.
Tucker continued:
“They need to declare war footing, in order to declare war powers, in order to win,” Tucker said.
