Unattractive People MORE Likely to Continue Wearing Face Masks without Mandates, Study Says

A new study has suggested that unattractive people are more likely to keep wearing face masks in post-covid era.

Researchers conducted three questionnaires asking people about self-perceived attractiveness and mask-wearing intentions.

The study concluded that young and middle-aged Americans who view themselves as attractive “believe wearing a mask hinders the opportunities to deliver a favorable impression to others.”

However, those who viewed themselves as unattractive believed that face coverings enhance their looks.

Throughout the last two years, face masks have become one of the symbols of a fierce culture war in the US.

Even as President Joe Biden declared the Covid pandemic ‘over,’ four in 10 Americans still wear face masks ‘occasionally.’

As The Daily Mail reported:

Researchers from Seoul National University in South Korea wanted to see if self-perceived attractiveness played a role in people’s mask-wearing intentions. They carried out three experiments on Americans recruited from Amazon Mechanical Turk, a business crowdsourcing website.

The average age in all the studies was 33 years old, and men made up roughly 44 percent of each study population.

The team’s most noteworthy finding arose from their third study.

Study three involved 442 people, half of whom were told they were going to walk the dog, and the other half were told they were going to a job interview.

They were asked: “In this scenario, do you think others will perceive you as more attractive with a face mask?”

They were also asked: “How much do you want to make a good first impression on others?”

People who had a job interview to go to cared more about whether wearing a mask affected their facial attractiveness.

For the initial study, researchers involved 244 people.

Participants scored their facial attractiveness before being asked to imagine a scenario in which they are invited for a job interview at a company they really like.

They were asked to answer the following questions: ‘Do you think the interviewers will perceive you as more attractive with a face mask?’ and ‘If wearing a face mask is optional in this interview session, would you wear a face mask during the company interview?’

People who scored themselves as very attractive were less likely to answer yes. They were also less likely to endorse the belief that mask-wearing enhances their appearance, which further dampened their mask-wearing intention in job interviews.

In an intervening study, 344 people who imagined themselves interviewing for a job at a well-respected company were asked: ‘Do you think the interviewers will perceive you as more [trustworthy/competent/attractive] with a face mask?’

People who answered yes to those questions were more apt to wear masks in the interview.

The study authors wrote: “Overall, we provide a novel finding that self-perceived attractiveness has significant effects on mask-wearing intention via mask attractiveness belief in the post-pandemic of COVID-19. “

“Our findings suggest that mask-wearing can shift from being a self-protection measure during the COVID-19 pandemic to a self-presentation tactic in the post-pandemic era.”

The report was published in Frontiers in Psychology.

Dan Bongino Drops Bombshell with Stunning Revelation on Secret Service Failures Surrounding Tump Shooting Former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino made a stunning revelation about security failures which led to former president Donald Trump coming within inches of being assassinated. During an appearance on Donald Trump Jr.'s podcast "Triggered," Bongino revealed that the rooftop from which the failed Trump assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks fired shots, was supposed to be covered by law enforcement personnel. Bongino revealed he was told this by an "unimpeachable source" who was knowledgeable about the situation. "That post, according to my source, that roof was supposed to be a police post. It was supposed to be someone there," he said. "They're now making up excuses, saying the pitch of the roof… my source says to me, no one knows why the post didn't show up," Bongino revealed. He added that Secret Service Director Kim Cheatle has been instructed by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to "keep her mouth shut if she wants to remain in her post. Cheatle has refused to resign from her post following the aftermath of the assassination attempt. The Secret Service identified a high-profile security vulnerability in the building but failed to protect the rooftop. Moreover, security forces did not take notice of Crooks roughly 30 minutes before the shooting. One law enforcement asset even managed to snap a photo of the suspect, though he was not confronted. Cheatle attempted to explain why the rooftop wasn't covered. "That building in particular has a sloped roof at its highest point. And so, you know, there's a safety factor that would be considered there that we wouldn't want to put somebody up on a sloped roof," the Secret Service director said in a statement to ABC News. "And so, you know, the decision was made to secure the building, from inside." "They're not putting that out there. But if you get those site post logs and those police instructions and it was a post on there and they didn't show up and no one checked, someone could have got your dad killed," Bongino said. "Within millimeters." Bongino said he would be revealing more details on his podcast. ""You're telling me the best technology you have was deployed and you missed a shooter 130 yards? Say it was 200 yards," Bongino told Fox News. The Secret Service CS team, Pete, the counter-sniper team? And I'm not sure those two guys are Secret Service. We have to remember that we don't always, when we go to New York sometimes with high-level protectees we'll use NYPD ESU counter-sniper. So I'm not really sure." "Either way, they'd still be briefed in. The question we have to ask is, if that's the best technology we have, and we had a CS team up there with a shooter that, you know, we're trained out to a thousand yards in the Secret Service with the counter-sniper team. How did they miss someone at most, you know, one-fifth of the way there? It doesn't make any sense."
