Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson made his first public remarks in response to Senior Biden administration officials celebrating his ouster from Fox News.
Carlson frequently took aim at the “woke” U.S. military under Biden, which made him public enemy number one.
According to a report from Politico:
Carlson’s criticism of Biden-era personnel policies appealed to many of the rank-and-file, which has a large bloc of conservative members.
But at the upper levels of the Defense Department, news of Carlson’s firing from Fox News on Monday was met with delight and glee in some corners.
“We’re a better country without him bagging on our military every night in front of hundreds of thousands of people,” one senior Defense Department official said.
“Good riddance,” another official told Politico.
Carlson responded to the remarks from the Pentagon replying in a text message: “Ha! I’m sure.”
Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance accused the officials of being cowards for “hiding behind anonymity.”
“Every ‘senior Pentagon official’ who commented on this story while hiding behind anonymity is a coward,” Vance tweeted.
“Call me old fashioned, but senior military officials should maintain neutrality about hot-button political topics. And they certainly shouldn’t run to one media outlet to gossip—anonymously—about another.”
According to The Wall Street Journal, Carlson was fired because of his alleged open disdain for some of the executives at the company.
The company’s lawyers told Carlson they had persuaded the court to redact from legal documents that he called a senior Fox News executive a “c***” in a private message, according to the report.
Carlson reportedly told colleagues at Fox News he wanted the world to know what he called the executive.
Fox News released the statement below on Monday:
“FOX News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways. We thank him for his service to the network as a host and, prior to that, as a contributor.”
“Mr. Carlson’s last program was Friday, April 21st. Fox News Tonight will air live at 8 PM/ET starting this evening as an interim show helmed by rotating FOX News personalities until a new host is named,” the statement continued.
