Republican 2024 frontrunner Donald Trump blasted Fulton County DA Fani Willis for ignoring the crime wave in Georgia and instead focusing on the “Witch Hunt” against him and his allies.
“Governor Kemp of Georgia is fighting hard against the impeachment of the crooked, incompetent, & highly partisan DA of Fulton County, Fani Willis, who has allowed murder and other violent crime to MASSIVELY ESCALATE,” Trump wrote.
“Crime in Atlanta is WORST IN NATION. She should be impeached for many reasons, not just the witch hunt (I did nothing wrong!). Willis should focus on out-of-control murder, not ‘I will get TRUMP’ over a perfect phone call. Georgia does not deserve this GIANT MURDER WAVE.”
Trump’s remarks came after reports of a truck hitting several pedestrians while attempting to flee from police officers in the state.
As Newsweek reported:
“Georgia Safety Patrol attempted to apprehend the driver of a Ford F-150 that was seen doing donuts in the middle of the intersection of 17th Street and Northside Drive, where a large crowd had gathered and blocked traffic. The officer stopped the driver, but not before the driver ran over several crowd members.”
According to Atlanta Police Department’s report, shoplifting is up 16 percent, and motor vehicle theft is up 69 percent across the city.
Trump will be turning himself in at the Fulton County jail in Georgia for charges related to a grand jury alleging he illegally tried to overturn the 2020 election.
Trump announced he would be turning himself in on Truth Social:
“Can you believe it? I’ll be going to Atlanta, Georgia, on Thursday to be ARRESTED by a Radical Left District Attorney, Fani Willis, who is overseeing one of the greatest Murder and Violent Crime DISASTERS in American History,” Trump wrote.
“In my case, the trip to Atlanta is not for ‘Murder,’ but for making a PERFECT PHONE CALL! She campaigned and is continuing to campaign and raise money for this WITCH HUNT. This is in strict coordination with Crooked Joe Biden’s DOJ. It is all about ELECTION INTERFERENCE!” he added.
Trump will be turning himself in one day after the GOP presidential primary debate, which he confirmed wh will not attend.
Trump’s bond in the Fulton County case has been set for $200,000.
